Susan Shaw & Sir Dieter Helm in Conversation with Samantha Knights, QC - Shute Festival

Climate Change & the Environment

On 27 May, @LivingLawfirm participated in a conversation on climate change and the environment with Sir Dieter Helm, Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Oxford and Fellow in Economics at New College, Oxford. The event was chaired by leading human rights barrister, Samantha Knights QC.

Sir Dieter Helm was Independent Chair of the Natural Capital Committee in the UK Parliament, providing advice to the UK government on the sustainable use of natural capital, until the end of the second term of the Committee in November 2020. He has written many books, most recently Net Zero (September 2020, William Collins) in which he addresses the action we all need to take to tackle the climate emergency.

The discussion was a welcome opportunity to explore perspectives in law and economics across transdisciplinary areas - including, environmental law, climate law & policy and human rights law.
